Our Story

A Home for Palestine in Wales

Tŷ: the Welsh word for "house." Filasteen: Palestine, in Arabic. Two homes, one roof.

Why We Started

More Than a Shop

Tŷ Filasteen began as a simple question: how do you support Palestine from a small city in Wales? The answer we landed on wasn't a slogan. It was a supply chain. Direct relationships with ceramicists, glassblowers and embroiderers, and a storefront that tells their story instead of hiding it.

We are not a general gift shop that happens to carry Palestinian items. Every product on this site was chosen because we could name who made it, and because buying it puts money directly into that person's or collective's hands.

What started as a market stall in Swansea has grown into a small studio, a calendar of workshops, and this website, but the principle hasn't changed: curated, not mass-produced. Authentic, not decorative.

What Guides Us

Three Commitments

Cultural Heritage

We treat every technique as living history worth practicing, documenting and passing on, not a museum piece.

Community Empowerment

The majority of every sale goes directly to the maker or collective, not to a middleman importer.

Global Connection

Through workshops and market evenings in Swansea, we build face-to-face bridges between Wales and Palestine.

Along the Way

How We Got Here

We began working directly with a glass workshop in Hebron and a pottery collective in Gaza.

Our first tatreez workshops

A small studio space let us start hosting hands-on embroidery and pottery sessions in Swansea.

A proper home online for the shop, the artists, and the growing events calendar.
